The LIFE OF ZORBA movie is astory about a real-life character already globally recognised, yet with most of his remarkable life left in the shadows. The name Zorba is synonymous with the global ‘Greek brand’ celebrated worldwide, and the against-all-odds love of freedom. Already one of Greece’s most famous literary heroes, Zorba conjures up the most treasured things in life; hedonism, good food, wine, great company, music, spontaneous affection, deep loyalty, bravery and not least those iconic dance moves.
It’s the ultimate summer holiday feelgood hit you’ll watch over and over. One of those that kick starts a stampede to visit the movie locations, from insta-worthy beaches in Halkidiki to bucolic Peloponnese fishing villages. It will attract global audiences from families, travel addicts, classical scholars and literature students alike.
The allure of a coastline the size of Africa, intoxicating scenery and cultural overload have put Greece at the top of the wish list of every traveller. Visitors soared to 35 million last year, while property booms along the Athens coastline with art and marinas rivallilng the Cote d’Azur. . A folklore museum is being constructed in George Zorba’s home town of Paleochori soon to become a commercial tourist landmark while the revered Nikos Kazantzakis and cultural centre thrives in Crete.
