WRITE YOUR OWN ODYSSEY

Seven Day / Six Night Writer’s Retreat
Peloponnese, Greece — 24–31 May 2027
The Retreat Overview

Set on a private shorefront estate, our Greek villa retreat is a place where inspiration comes with the territory. We’ve chosen this stunning location for it’s serious literary credentials. This lesser known chunk of ‘the garden of Greece’has always been a source of literary inspiration, not least to the famous Patrick Leigh Fermor who lived in this region and bequeathed his and wife Joan’s beautiful villa to the Benaki Museum.

The retreats are held in villas offering a rare privacy yet within marching distance of the world’s most famous classical sites like Epidavrus.

Across six nights, you’ll plug into expert daily coaching from published authors, one-to-one mentorship on your creative project, and insider guidance on publishing and monetising your work from industry experts. Between sessions, guest can hop down to a nearby beach, enjoy snacks and coffees, wander the olive groves or enjoy a walk in the ravishing spring countryside. We’re here to have fun and relax too.

Each day brings organic homecooked meals, drinks, and lively banter by the pool. Water is sourced from springs or crystal infused to keep you well hydrated.

About Field TRIPS

FIELD TRIPS are travel and wellness experts curating deeply restorative creative journeys for writers, artists, and hedonists. We create retreats which speak to the demanding traveller, seeking quiet luxury in extraordinary natural settings and great company.

We’ve been organising landmark events and travel experiences within the PR and marketing industry. Clients include Singapore Airlines, Heathrow Airport and Tourist Boards of Cyprus and Oman, amongst many others. Take a peek at our news and case study web pages.

Our new experiences for 2027 are the most exciting of all, positioned uniquely for a global audience — primarily UK, and North America — who are the pathfinders in literary and wellness tourism.

Our first four retreats in 2027 will be staged in Greece – starting with Hydra island, The Peloponnese, Patmos island and the glorious booming capital, Athens. Dates will be released soon. However as these sell out we’ll announce retreats in other destinations. Hawaii is top of the list – the Big Island and Kaui. For wellness, we’re focused on Slovenia and Czechoslovakia.

Field Trips

Where do we stay and what do we do? We’ll lay on relaxed day‑forays to the nearest “big three” classical wonders; Mycenae, Nafplion and Epidavrus,  along with lesser‑known trails like volcanic Methana landscape, whose ancient eruptions predate Santorini’s fame. Optional add‑on experiences are recommended for those guests seeking more culture – or the simple hedonism that Greece is known for.

The FIELD TRIPS experience

WRITE YOUR OWN ODYSSEY retreat will be  held in a modern, light‑filled home set on a charming estate in the Peloponnese, surrounded by sweeping olive groves – straight out of Homer.

Spring in Greece is legendary; a carpet of wildflowers, including rare orchids, and brightly coloured cyclamen. The climate is perfect for studying, combined with beach walks and village strolls, or island forays. There’s no better atmosphere than on a ringside cafe table taking in the Mediterranean vibe as the ports come to life for the season ahead.

Field Trips team will be on hand to share favourite trails, the best tavernas, and ensure your stay is tailored to your needs.

The Peloponnese is easiily accesssed from Athens by car, or a short hop by ferry via Poros, making it one of the most accessible yet least‑discovered corners of the Saronic Gulf.

The international airport of Kalamata, in the south, is a growing gateway for major UK and  EU hubs during summer and via Athens all year round.

The Peloponnese is a large fertile mainland separated by the Corinth canal, and until now, the least discovered, making it ideal for fly drives.  Most tourists visit the world famous classical ancient Greek sites on day trips from Athens and settle in larger beach resorts elsewhere. Mostly agricultural, this region is a patchwork of towns and  villages, winding coastal roads and dramatic rocky mountain ranges like the Mani. Inland is a visual feast – think Arcadian landscapes of rolling hills  with stone built chocolate box villages. Little known is its volcanic landscape;  ancient lava fields and crater trails tell a geological story far older than Santorini, while its main ports retain their charm and beach resorts are favoured by Greeks as family escapes. The eastern Aegean facing coastal towns are low‑key: accessed by regular hydrofoils from Piraeus (Athens) port. The eastern  fishing boats, family‑run tavernas, and not a high‑rise hotel in sight. The region is known for organic produce, unfussy seafood and prices that still feel refreshingly local. And when you want a change of tempo, the lively marina scene of Poros is just across the water — close enough for a dose of yachty glamour, while Porto Heli is a mini Monaco in high season, it keeps its unspoilt under the radar vibe.

Spring in Methana is a slice of heaven: the hillsides explode with wildflowers, rare orchids hide along the trails, and the temperatures sit in that sweet spot for walking, writing and contemplation. It’s the mythical landscape trodden by ancient heroes and artists, so pack for comfort by day and for nights under the stars.

Field Trips - What to Bring FAQ

Pack light, comfortable layers for warm spring days and cooler evenings. Think easy walking clothes, breathable fabrics, and something cosy for nights under the stars.

Yes — bring comfortable shoes for coastal walks, olive‑grove trails and visits to ancient sites. Pebbly beaches mean sandals with grip are useful too.

Bring whatever helps you create — a notebook, laptop, favourite pens, or sketchbook. We provide a curated library, but your personal tools matter.

Yes — pack an EU plug converter and chargers for your devices. Wi‑Fi is available, though we encourage digital‑free moments.

Highly recommended. The Peloponnese is full of wildflowers, volcanic landscapes, olive groves and unforgettable characters.

Just comfortable clothing. We provide mats, herbal teas, structured water and everything else you’ll need.

Not at all — but a few Duolingo phrases go a long way in local tavernas and village shops.

A hat for the midday sun, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, keep some cash in euros for emergencies. Photocopy of passport.

Field Trips - Spending Money FAQ

Most of your retreat costs are already covered — accommodation, meals at the villa, coaching, excursions, transfers and daily comforts. You’ll only need spending money for meals out, free‑time treats, and personal extras

Most guests spend £20–£40 per day when eating or drinking outside the villa. Local tavernas are famously good value, and coffee, snacks and wine are refreshingly affordable.

Yes — all FIELD TRIPS excursions, tours and local walks are included. You may want extra money for souvenirs, books, or optional add‑on experiences

Transfers for the retreat programme are included. If you choose to explore independently, budget £10–£20 for taxis or ferries.

Both work well. Small villages often prefer cash, while tavernas and shops accept cards.

Tips are not included. Greece is relaxed about tipping — 5–10% is appreciated in tavernas and cafés.

Only if you choose optional extras. The retreat’s core wellness sessions are included.

Not at all. Local shops offer handmade goods, ceramics, honey, herbs and olive‑oil products at very reasonable prices.
